It's the Christmas Season, which means lots of shopping, decorations, and everyone’s favorite… Christmas Movies! Here are the top 10 Christmas movies of all time.
At spot ten we have A Charlie Brown Christmas. Come on, doesn’t everyone agree that Charlie Brown deserves to have a spot on this list? What’s there not to love about it? It has music that’s a mix of traditional Christmas music and jazz. It’s got humor with one-liners, sitcoms, absurdity, and everything in between.
The timeless black-and-white film It's A Wonderful Life is ranked ninth. Although Capra includes some heartwarming scenes, it is a depressing tale of a man who forfeits everything, of his own volition, in order to serve the greater good. Despite the fact that it made me sad to watch it, I would say it is a really good Christmas movie.
At number eight we have The Christmas Chronicles. I thought this was so much more unique than other repetitive Christmas movies while watching it! I absolutely love Santa's sarcasm in the movie.
Ranked seventh, we have The Nightmare Before Christmas. It was a creative idea for a movie, it had a great balance of holiday cheer and Halloween horror. The songs, like “This is Halloween” and “What This?” were catchy and memorable, and there was great humor.
Coming down to number six, I just had to put in the movie we all watched in elementary school. The Polar Express! How many of you watched The Polar Express in 3rd grade with popcorn and the lights off? I know I did.
Smack dab in the middle of the list we have the classic Christmas movie A Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey. Everything about this movie is out of this world, from Jim Carrey's performance as Ebenezer Scrooge to the music, the characters, the style, the feelings, and the enchantment of the holiday spirit.
Right after A Christmas Carol, we have the movie Elf with Will Ferrell. This film is funny and sweet. Every time I watch it, it brings me more and more holiday cheer. The comedy in this film is one aspect I really enjoy. You smile the entire time the movie is on. It's impossible not to laugh when Will Ferrell plays the main character, Buddy.
In 3rd place, we got the classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Live Action). How the Grinch Stole Christmas is just one of those guilty pleasures to watch during the holiday season. The mean green machine, played by Jim Carrey, is hilarious and entertaining, and the main character completely steals the show.
Rounding up to the silver medal, we’ve got the sequel to Home Alone; Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. The movie is hilarious and brimming with warm holiday cheer. It was a great way to pass the time while having mindless fun and has its moments.
The gold medal winner and the reigning champion of all-time Christmas movies is Home Alone. I absolutely love Home Alone because of its original storyline and the character growth, particularly with Kevin. I couldn't look away from the TV as I laughed heartily at the practical jokes.
That's it from me. Comment below if you disagree with any of these and if you have any others you would add that aren't on the list!
