Fall in Loveland

It’s official - the first golden leaves are falling, the pools have closed, pumpkin spice drink flavors have been released, and the Twilight movies are in season again. In short, autumn is here. Fall in a small town like Loveland, Ohio may be charming just in its existence, but what makes the season truly stand out is Loveland’s variety of activities it offers to residents and visitors alike.

Perfect to kick off the season, Blooms and Berries farm, located just ten minutes outside of downtown Loveland, hosts a variety of autumn activities. Blooms and Berries farm is a popular location for its pumpkin patch, expansive petting farm, and hayrides in its Fall on the Farm season. Blooms and Berries also offers home-grown produce, goods from local businesses, and an in-store bakery, which sells all the best of fall treats - pumpkin bread, fudge, pies, and more. Be sure to grab an apple cider before exploring the seven-acre corn maze. Opening on September 14th, Blooms and Berries is a great excursion for you and your friends or family to experience all the best parts of fall.

If you’d prefer to ease into the season, catch a free double-feature showing of The Jungle Book and The Princess Bride in Phillips Park on September 28th, starting at 7:30 PM. There will be concessions, including burgers, hot dogs, and a variety of frozen treats. Grab a cozy blanket and a warm drink and enjoy some classic comfort movies surrounded by the Loveland community.

Of course, autumn is best enjoyed with a treat in hand. If you’re not ready to give up summer desserts yet, Graeter's Ice Cream offers seasonal fall flavors like Elena’s Blueberry Pie which releases in September, and Pumpkin in October. Mile 42 Coffee serves classic fall coffee flavors like pumpkin and chai, accompanied by seasonal donut and pastry flavors. Meanwhile, Branch Hill Coffee Company offers more unique coffee flavors, such as caramel apple butter, toffee nut, and “witch’s brew,” any of which would pair perfectly with their Sweet and Salty cookie. These locally-owned businesses provide not only great autumn treats but also a cozy atmosphere worth visiting.

As October rolls around, Halloween festivities kick into gear. Be sure not to miss the debut of The Return of The Frogman on October 12th. The film will be shown at Loveland Stage Company at 8:30 PM after an evening of activities like a scavenger hunt, escape room, and comedy show, all Frogman-themed, of course. Before the season wraps up, take some time to explore the bike trail under the picturesque falling leaves, have an autumn picnic with friends in any of Loveland’s beautiful parks, and carve some of those locally-grown pumpkins.

Naturally, Halloween is the peak of the fall season, in Loveland or anywhere else. Loveland holds trick-or-treating city-wide from 6-8 PM, but details for your specific neighborhood’s schedule can be found on Nextdoor or just by talking to your neighbors. Whether you’re trick-or-treating or binge-watching horror movies from your bed, enjoy the spirit of the season, and most importantly, don’t forget about the discount candy the day after Halloween. Autumn in Loveland highlights some of the best the community has to offer and reminds us how charming our town can be.
